Award: Career Certificate
This career certificate targets individuals/clinicians that already have an associate or bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field (i.e. nursing, radiology, pharmacy, etc.) and want to leave the patient care positions to prepare for a CPC coding credential. Prospective students will need to meet specific requirements in order to qualify. Those specific requirements include: currently working in a healthcare field or have had experience in their degree field within the past 5 years. Upon review of transcripts and experience, students may need to take course(s) in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, and/or Disease Processes if there are deficits in their preparation.
Note: All course grades must be a C or higher to meet completion requirements. Any courses with grades less than a C must be re-taken.
Program Director approval required prior to enrolling in this certificate.

To earn this degree, a student must complete all required courses.

Clinician to Coder Career Certificate (CTCCC) The following plan is designed to be the most direct path to degree completion and is based on a fall quarter start. Students are expected to meet with their student success navigator or advisor to plan a customized course schedule that meets their specific needs. - Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing medical terminology relating to anatomy, physiology, pathology, clinical procedures, spelling, and pronunciation.
- Display effective communications, teamwork, multicultural issues, human relations skills, and HIPAA compliance.
- Illustrate proficiency in coding and billing medical diagnoses, procedures, and supplies common in the daily operations of a medical facility.
- Demonstrate an understanding of disease processes and remedies.
