This career certificate targets individuals/clinicians that already have an associate or bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field (i.e. nursing, radiology, pharmacy, etc.) and want to leave the patient care positions to prepare for a CPC coding credential.  Prospective students will need to meet specific requirements in order to qualify.  Those specific requirements include: currently working in a healthcare field or have had experience in their degree field within the past 5 years.  Upon review of transcripts and experience, students may need to take course(s) in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology, and/or Disease Processes if there are deficits in their preparation.

 

Note: All course grades must be a C or higher to meet completion requirements. Any courses with grades less than a C must be re-taken.

 

Program Director approval required prior to enrolling in this certificate.

 

Graduation Requirements
To earn this degree, a student must complete all required courses.
Total credit hours required: 26.0

Clinician to Coder Career Certificate (CTCCC)

The following plan is designed to be the most direct path to degree completion and is based on a fall quarter start. Students are expected to meet with their student success navigator or advisor to plan a customized course schedule that meets their specific needs. Program Level Student Learning Outcomes


  1. Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing medical terminology relating to anatomy, physiology, pathology, clinical procedures, spelling, and pronunciation.
  2. Display effective communications, teamwork, multicultural issues, human relations skills, and HIPAA compliance.
  3. Illustrate proficiency in coding and billing medical diagnoses, procedures, and supplies common in the daily operations of a medical facility.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of disease processes and remedies.
